Riviera Dreams
2020
What does that year mean to you?
For some of us, it was a year of prosperity and blessings
But for many of us, it was a year of fear, loss, and death
As time went on, it was nothing more than that
Time
As the days got more grey and the end seemed more bleak
We called to You, Lord for answers
But You remained silent
Waking up to another school shooting, and a brand new deadly strain
I wake up to the rioting and looting, in a world filled with so much pain
I know that the world's broken, refugees falling out of planes
I try not to be outspoken, but it seems nobody else can explain why
The terrorists are reigning and humans beings don't have rights
In heaven, right now, it must be raining, as the day is swallowed up by the night
As a boy gets gunned down at fourteen
Now everybody's posting R.I.P
Then, they all forget about him in a week
As an Innocent man gets the death penalty
Welcome to the land of the free
To the land of the free
I tell my closest friends all about you
And they ask me where you are
'Cause when I tell them to drop down on their knees
They think they're wishing on a shooting star
It kind of feels like you were lying
This nightmare's in my head rent free
Of me and my family dying
The life of Riviera dreams
What's lost can not be found, no matter how hard I look
Thought you could pull us out the ground, but now, I know it's just a book
The planet that you made is overheating
If you made us in the garden of eden
Why can't you bring us home
What does that year mean to you?
For some of us, it was a year of prosperity and blessings
But for many of us, it was a year of fear, loss, and death
As time went on, it was nothing more than that
