Forget Me Not

A lavender field melted my poor my heart
A violet so brilliant, moving in the wind
Acres of sunflowers in full bloom
Like Van Gogh's living room, with paintings all ablaze
From his sunflower phase

A pretty bouquet from that place we like
With lots of iris and a bird of paradise
Some of those little daisies mingled in
Maybe lupine
Or prairie rose, I love all those

But my favorite flower of all
The one with the finest hue
The one with the sweetest scent
Is tucked away from view
My baby has a forget me not tattoo

She got it back before she really knew me much
At a seaside parlor out in Santa Monica
I didn't get to see it for a while, it was in a certain spot
She was with some other man, but that's my forget me not

I've been in arboretums full of tropical
Flower blossoms big as your head
I've seen cactus in the desert in spring
Bloom amazing things, like boys with boutonnières
At a high school dance

But my favorite flower of all
The one with the finest hue
The one with the sweetest scent
Is tucked away from view
My baby has a forget me not
My baby has a forget me not
My baby has a forget me not tatoo
