Used to Be

This townhouse used to be a record shop
And you could buy all of your music here
This townhouse used to be a coffee shop
And you could smell the coffee roasting everywhere
This townhouse used to be a wellness clinic
And they would take care of the people in it
This townhouse used to be a childcare
And now there's no more children staying there

You'd think there'd be more housing here
You'd think there'd be more warm, dry beds
You would think there'd be no shortage of
Safe spots where you could raise your kids

There's a liquor store inside the grocery store
There's a bank inside the grocery store
There's a cafe in the grocery store
We get what we need from the grocery store
I guess that's fine if you like grocery stores
Or consolidate your weekly chores
But I could never be that organized
I wish that banking weren't commercialized

You'd think there'd be more groceries here
You'd think there'd be more food to eat
You would think there'd be no shortage of
Ways to feed your family
