The Thing About Trains

I never got the thing about trains
I guess I wouldn't going that far
And by the time I needed to be on down the road
I already knew how to hotwire a car

I don't wanna ride on a train
They're always so smoky and loud
And hopping a moving boxcar is plainly insane
I never got the thing about trains
I won't be jumping out of a plane
To me it's just one of those things
If God had foreseen me falling from the sky
Then I'd be supplied with a working pair of wings

It's hard enough to ride on a plane
A few of you know what I mean
Just give me a couple of cocktails and a good magazine
I won't be jumping out of a plane

But don't get me wrong listening to this song
I've done my share of things I thought were risky
I've outrun the law, and gambled on love
And a time or two I drank myself way too much whiskey
But I never got the thing about trains
I never tried riding a bull
I'd rather cook and eat them instead
I'm not the kind to try things where I could wind up wounded
And chances seem good I'm gonna land on my head

I never tried riding a bull
Unless you wanna count my ex-wife
When it comes to bucking livestock, my dance card is full
I never tried riding a bull

But don't get me wrong listening to this song
I've done my share of things I thought were risky
I've outrun the law, and gambled on love
And a time or two I drank myself way too much whiskey

But I never got the thing about trains
They're always so smoky and loud
And hopping a moving boxcar is plainly insane
I never got the thing about trains

I never got the thing about trains
I never got the thing about trains
