Rewind

Sometimes I wish I could rewind the hands of time
To younger days, living in our prime
We had no way of knowing we could be anything
In our eyes was the dawning of the day
The sun would rise and never go away
This thing called life had just begun
We were the lucky ones
And now at last I know what I'm living for
Oh what I'd give to start again once more
I see within what I could have been

He'd always had a way of weaving colors into one
They praised his being so good and so young
And told him that one day he'd be a star
So forty years go by and now it seems
This life he's lived was someone else's dream
He longs to find a love that's true
And will see him through
He's searching now, he's looking far and wide
But fearful that he's running out of time
But what he'll see
And what will be
Is all somehow
In the here and now

Take me back to a place where time is stretching ahead of me
Where all that is and will be is full of hope and possibility

So here we are, looking out at the road that guides our way
The choice is ours to go on or stay
All we have is where we go from here
They say that the best time to plant a tree
Was twenty years ago but now I see
The seeds that lay within my hands I understand
It's never too late to chase a dream
Just start right now and don't look back where you've been
And all you need
All you need
All you need is there within

No more looking backward. My eyes are fixed on places I will be
And when I give myself to all the things I love it sets me free
It sets me free

Sometimes I wish I could rewind the hands of time
