The Hardest Hood I Know

The hardest hood I know
The hardest hood I know is fatherhood. Nothing really comes close

You witness in the physical, one of God's miracles
Walking in this neighborhood, the bond became spiritual
The seeds of my flesh here, breathing my breath
Fear nothing in this wicked world when it comes to them

Do the best that I can to be a respectable man
I had to heal from old wounds. I had to turn from doing wrongs
I had to grow to be mature. I had to pray to be strong
I had to toss away the yay, and punch a clock to make the pay

Catch me working every day, insurance 401k
In this hood, it ain't no easy way. You still got trauma
You gotta provide when you're with or without they mama
They didn't ask to be here and you are half of the reason

Why that beautiful child of yours is right here breathing
Man up and be responsible. It's hard fa sho
Sometimes a thankless job, but yo
The hardest hood I know

One thing I've learned, if Mother is the closest to God
Then Father is that lightning rod
The balance is much needed, compassion and much nurture
But on the other hand the fire to go further

Look in the eyes of ya daughter and soul search her
Show her a Man when she looks at you
There's no manual, and yeah a few book'll do
Ain't nothing wrong with some therapy, approach it all carefully

You learning on the fly
The younger you have children it's harder to let your childish ways
Shrivel up and die

You gotta move different
You gotta budget money for food and school different
Being there for your seeds should make you different

Time is valuable and life you start to view different
They saying you different
That's a compliment, homie. Damn right fa sho
You gotta have a level head cause

This is the hardest hood I know
