As the Waves Pull Me Under
I am desperately waiting for someone to save me
From drowning in a sea of faceless suitors
The turbulent tides tossing me left and right but never washing ashore
Or even managing to stay afloat
I am hoping someone
Anyone will find me clinging to rocks with the ocean in my lungs
I hope they will grasp my waterlogged mannequin of a body
Press their lips to mine
And breathe love back into my life
The oxygen molecules within me becoming lovers with the sound of my name on their tongue
Making space as they filter out my grit, my baggage, my sadness, the plastic
That has prevented me from feeling desired
Because even Poseidon's most horrendous monsters want to feel admired
But in too many eyes I am a creature of fiction
A twisted tall-tale
A lack of conviction
An incomprehensible oddity that never quite fits their description
So I'll dream of a day when I am seen, when I am loved, when my life is serene
I will dress in my finest pearls
Decked out in treasures stolen from sunken relation-ships
And my siren song will call out into a dark and empty night
Across the freezing and unforgiving waves
While I walk in the shallow ends
Wading for a response
From drowning in a sea of faceless suitors
The turbulent tides tossing me left and right but never washing ashore
Or even managing to stay afloat
I am hoping someone
Anyone will find me clinging to rocks with the ocean in my lungs
I hope they will grasp my waterlogged mannequin of a body
Press their lips to mine
And breathe love back into my life
The oxygen molecules within me becoming lovers with the sound of my name on their tongue
Making space as they filter out my grit, my baggage, my sadness, the plastic
That has prevented me from feeling desired
Because even Poseidon's most horrendous monsters want to feel admired
But in too many eyes I am a creature of fiction
A twisted tall-tale
A lack of conviction
An incomprehensible oddity that never quite fits their description
So I'll dream of a day when I am seen, when I am loved, when my life is serene
I will dress in my finest pearls
Decked out in treasures stolen from sunken relation-ships
And my siren song will call out into a dark and empty night
Across the freezing and unforgiving waves
While I walk in the shallow ends
Wading for a response
