A Producer's Demo

This collaboration was one of my favourite experiences of all time
Jarrett and I were just talking about music in general
Sharing knowledge in musical instruments
Musicianship and Performance Practicing
Music appreciation among singaporeans

I was heavily influenced and learnt so much from one musically-talented friend
At the same time, I have never known how to compose a quasi-classical piano piece

I knew I wanted to incorporate classical and lo-fi elements without going the cliche route
I liked the distinct concepts of both genres and styles
But I focused more on the production process of how it both differs

Using classically composed pieces on lo-fi beats were definitely too cliche for that
So I really wanted to bring in a lot more genuine elements that came into the fruition of making it raw
Making it raw, seemingly unfiltered, low quality, maybe even manipulating the audio that fits
That fits with the correct chopped up sections of the piece

The music itself kept on changing every iteration of each session we both worked it on
But the production process slowly formed into a consistent solution
Which was simply to record bits and pieces from jarrett and let me post-produce the rest

I trusted jarrett's ebb and flow of playing the piano and he trusted my chaotic haphazard nature of producing

In the end, I hoped to create music that reflects the communication and musicality in
Two distinct eras of music; the classical and the digital
And this exact tightrope had me walking throughout my outlook in other pieces of music I made
