Dreams Unanswered

In a spaceship bound for the edge of the sky
A scientist ventured, her hopes flying high
Stars whizzed by in a shimmering stream
Fueling her journey, igniting her dream
Through the darkness, her heart beat fast
Seeking the secrets of the void so vast
On a distant world, she made her stand
Eager to learn from an alien land

Tri-legged beings in a curious dance
Caught her eye, put her in a trance
She reached out with a hopeful plea
But they turned away, wouldn't even see
Their habits were strange, a silent play
No words were spoken, no thoughts to say
She watched in wonder, felt so small
As they lived their lives, ignoring her all

Their world was vivid, colors so bright
But in their eyes, she was out of sight
They built strange things, played silent games
Their lives were a puzzle with no names
Every attempt to make a friend
Met with silence, a quiet end
She floated alone in the alien crowd
Her hopes for contact wrapped in a shroud

With heavy heart, she turned to leave
Her quest for knowledge met with grief
The journey home felt long and cold
Her dreams of meeting them grew old
Back on Earth, she told her tale
Of alien worlds and her lonely trail
In the end, the stars were still bright
But her heart was dim, lost in the night
