Red Roses

Red roses whisper in your head
Colored thoughts of painted daydreams bare
Drowned in the water, visions unclear
A crown of melted brushstrokes swirling in your hair

An angel swam before you
As you made your bed
And begged for you to listen
While you simply turned your head

Her eyes were wide with fright
As the static starts to overwhelm your mind
A peaceful creature who could only stare
And watch you die
Watch you die
Watch you die
Watch you die

The stars like stepping stones in the ocean of the sky
I tried cast one in, but all it hit was night

Regret came pouring in
Like a flood that uproots all the work you did
It makes a river that swirls all around your neck
And holds you in

Die, die a second death with grief stricken lips
That angel just as tattered, feathers torn to shreds
Across the other side you pound against the mist
Broken bones won't shift the tides that you pushed out your hands

Your eyes were wide with fright
As the static starts to overwhelm her mind
A grieving creature who could only stare
And watch her die
Watch her die
Watch her die
Watch her die

The stars like stepping stones in the ocean of the sky
I tried to cast one in, but all it hit was night
