Oeuvre
In the forest of my mind,
Where the trees are tall and kind,
I wander lost in melodies,
Of love and heartbreak tragedies.
With each note I play and sing,
Memories of old love spring,
A melancholy lullaby,
Of all the boys who said goodbye
I submerged myself in sorrow's tide,
With tears to paint, canvases dyed
And though my art may never dry,
In the Louvre, it will live hanging high
In the depths of night, I lost my way
My pen and piano helped me stay
Without them, I wouldn't survive
Like all the boys gone from my life
I bet you rue the day
You loved the poet in the dark
Cus now he'll write you
In the words of all his works of art
The love we gained and lost,
Forever tearing me apart
The memories we shared
Forever etched in my heart
Oh, how I long to etch your name
In ink that lasts forevermore
So deep it's stitched beneath my skin
Like a tattoo, dark and pure
For on the day you said goodbye
I wrote two songs to mend my soul
Beneath the moon's silver light
It whispered what I must console
A poet and a singer,
My words and voice they linger,
Long after my heart's desires,
Have burned up like fading fires.
I'll capture these memories,
In the notes of my melodies,
Breathing life into something,
That's already taken wing.
I bet you rue the day
You loved the poet in the dark
Cus now he'll write you
In the words of all his works of art
The love we gained and lost,
Forever tearing me apart
The memories we shared
Forever etched in my heart
My wounded heart spills forth its blood,
My pen a sword, my ink a flood,
As I pour out my heart and soul,
My pain and hurt, my love and all.
I've learned that beauty lies within,
And strength's not enough to let me win
My hands held power, my mind is bright,
Yet still my heart aches day and night.
I long to find a love that's true,
A soul who'll cherish all I do,
Who'll hold me close, both heart and mind,
And love me even when I've died.
I bet you rue the day
You loved the poet in the dark
Cus now he'll write you
In the words of all his works of art
The love we gained and lost,
Forever tearing me apart
The memories we shared
Forever etched in my heart
Where the trees are tall and kind,
