Lafayette Road Trip

Well it's been a long, long time I've been on the road
And now I'm looking for a place to sleep
I drove from New York City down to Lafayette
And played at all points in between
I gotta get me some food, and maybe some brews
There's a sign flashing up the street
So I drove down the road – heading towards that light
I was so hungry I could eat concrete
And as the glowing neon came into view
It was flashing only one word "EAT"
I turned into the driveway, kicked up some gravel
Could taste the dust in my teeth
Everyone everywhere likes to dance real close
Everyone everywhere loves to Zydeco

Well, you know the parking lot was packed with pickup trucks
And there were people dancing out in the street
And I could hear the band playing on the outdoor deck
They all dancing to the Zydeco Beat
So I ordered a drink and started to think
Man I could stay here all week
Well I asked the bartender could I get some food
She said boy are you in for a treat
Jambalaya, brisket, a plate full of ribs
Collard greens and cornbread so sweet
Ate so much I was sweatin', but now I was gettin'
Ready to go dance to the beat
Everyone everywhere likes to dance real close
Everyone everywhere loves to Zydeco

Well she was out on the floor kickin' up some dust
And when I saw her I just had to compete
I starting spinning around like a lopsided top
And my dinner started to repeat
I asked if she was alone, her smile she showed
And I saw she only had two teeth
Well her name was Anita, she had quite a grasp
When she clutched me now she wouldn't let go
She said hello in a deep voice with quite a rasp
Good thing I knew a little Tae Kwon Do
So when she grabbed me to dance, I ran out of my pants
My car was speedin' when I hit the road
Everyone everywhere likes to dance real close
Everyone everywhere loves to Zydeco
