So Insecure (Radio Edit)
One 15-year-old Morgantown resident has a very unique collection
Jett has a hobby of his very own
It all started when he saw a quote keyboard without a monitor
He said, "What is that?"
I said, "That's a typewriter."
He had never seen a typewriter before
From that day on, he started collecting typewriters
I was up in the news over ten years ago
Grandmother helped put the gears in motion
Front page Sunday Dominion Post
Associated Press picked it up
I suppose I was blowin' up
Typewriters showin' up, flowin' in
Many given as a donation
Even state treasurer was givin' recognition
AntiqueWeek Magazine, local news station
So much press, It was all so flattering
All fun, I kept up with it
Until I just didn't (What?)
I got what I wanted, oh, you thought, no I didn't
I was trynna get up on a scene with a chick
Workin' 40 hours every week I was this
High school teen, a real late bloomer
I switched up some friends, see
The work crew was cool then
I started hangin' out with 'em way more often
Man, what's your hobbies? Ummmmmm
Same explanation reserved for this occasion
I just like 'em, typewriters, I don't know why
I can't explain it
Then, it's "how many do ya have?" and
"Do they all work" and
"What's your favorite?"
I'm solvin' they riddles
I was gettin' so intimate with this charade, charade
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, so insecure (so insecure), so insecure
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, I'm so insecure (so insecure, so insecure)
What started out as Jett's little collection
Has turned into a full-blown hobby
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, so insecure (so insecure), so insecure
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, I'm so insecure (so insecure, so insecure)
Most kids his age are into sports, video games, or girls
Tenth grade, I was in chemistry class
New crush, the TA was hot as a match
I was socially underdeveloped
I blame myself, no one else, I was different
Trynna flirt with a ***** in Honors English
I was doomed though, no common sense
Soon I was college freshmen
Obsessed with a chick that I worked with
I'm askin' her out over text in ECON class
What the **** was that?
I was scared of rejection
I couldn't do the deed in person, no
I was rejected, rightfully so
At the same time, I couldn't figure out which major to study
I was on a roll, huh
The kid done dropped out, dropped out
I was so immature and unrealistic and
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, so insecure (so insecure), so insecure
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, I'm so insecure (so insecure, so insecure)
Typewriters, typewriter, typewriter, typewriters
Typewriter, typewriter, typewriter, everyone is unique
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, so insecure (so insecure), so insecure
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, I'm so insecure (so insecure, so insecure)
Typewriters, typewriter, typewriter, typewriters
Typewriter, typewriter, typewriter, typewriter, everyone is unique
To no one's surprise, I used to be shy like the Windy City
But I didn't mind
My friend count I recollect was thin like toothpicks
I kept to myself all the time
And I didn't play a sport
Now I feel I gotta make a big entrance
I feel so important, I'm too relentless
I gotta make a great first impression these days
And teach 'em a lesson I ain't really playin'
And ya better get the message
I got numb to the pain
I got used to the heartache
Me, I was done with my life, I was givin' up
Another day, another migraine, listen up
A storm I was brewin' takin anger out on friends
Coulda sworn I was bound to a curse that never ends
Typewriters stayin' on the backburner
Don't know why I started in the first place
Oh yeah, I was
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, so insecure (so insecure), so insecure
I'm so insecure (so insecure), so insecure, I'm so insecure (so insecure, so insecure)
