IN MY SHOES

Sitting in this cell, counting days, years, it's a mess,
Locked up for a crime, man, they put me to the test,
Innocent as a saint, but they painted me guilty,
Framed by the system, my life's looking filthy.
My mind's racing, visions of my wife and my kids,
They promised to wait, but now I see what it is,
Letters stopped coming, visits turned to dust,
Heard rumors in the yard, but didn't wanna distrust.

But the truth hit hard when the lawyer came through,
Told me she moved on, married someone new,
Not just any man, nah, it's my best friend,
Raising my children, playing house, acting like a godsend.
Tears in my eyes, rage in my heart,
I was locked down, but this was tearing me apart,
They living my life while I'm stuck in this pen,
Had to swallow my pride, but the anger crept in.

You took my life, you took my pride,
Now you got my wife standing by your side,
Raised my kids, like you were me,
But I'm coming home, you'll finally see.
Justice ain't blind, it's got a crooked aim,
Now I'm out the cage, but I ain't the same,
You took everything, now I'm taking it back,
Once a friend, now you're dead, that's a fact.

Released from the chains, but the beast ain't free,
Got a chip on my shoulder, demons haunting me,
Walked into the house that I used to call mine,
Saw the photos on the wall, all the memories aligned.
Kids smiling with him, like I never even mattered,
My heart's breaking, but my mind's getting battered,
Saw her with him, that ring on her hand,
The same one I gave, now it's part of their plan.

Confronted him in the kitchen, he looked surprised,
But I saw through the lies in his guilty eyes,
He stuttered my name, tried to explain,
But I wasn't here for talk, just to end this pain.
Pulled the trigger, felt the world slow down,
Watched him hit the floor, never making a sound,
She screamed my name, but it's too late now,
The deed is done, I'm heading back somehow.

You took my life, you took my pride,
Now you got my wife standing by your side,
Raised my kids, like you were me,
But I came back, now you finally see.
Justice ain't blind, it's got a crooked aim,
Now I'm back in the cage, playing the same game,
You took everything, but I took it back,
Once a friend, now you're dead, that's a fact.

Now I'm in this cell, but my soul ain't at rest,
Paid the price, but my heart's still a mess,
Wife's gone, kids hate me, what did I win?
Trapped in this cycle, where do I begin?
Regrets on my mind, but I had to do it,
Loyalty's a word, but they went and blew it,
My life's in ruins, but at least it's mine,
Back in the pen, just killing time.

Justice served, but there's no peace,
Revenge tasted sweet, but it's a bitter feast,
Now I sit alone, no love, no friend,
Trapped in this hell, till the very end.
You took my life, now it's all gone,
But in this darkness, I'm right where I belong,
A story of pain, betrayal, and strife,
I'm Just another man that done lost his fucking life,

I'm Just another man that lost his fucking life.
