The Day Your Dog Died

Oh, I remember the day your dog died
The wind and rain wept through the night
Looking back it should've been my life
Between you and I, I'm tainted with lies

Oh, I remember the day your mom died
The wind and rain wept through the night
Looking back it should've been my life
I bring so much pain to everyone I find

You know the truth and so, so do I
You're not okay and I'm not alright
You know the truth and so, so do I
I'm not okay, will we be alright?
You know the truth and so, so do I
You're not okay and I'm not alright
You know the truth and so, so do I
I'm not okay, will we stay alive?

So make me the author of my fiction
Another walking contradiction
All of my veins absorbed in my pain
All of my veins controlled by my brain
The arteries inside of me
Eight colonies fighting peace
Without a victory on either side it seems
I can't lean on my knees
Giving up sleep in order to keep the hope that I need
Aiming for stars that are breaking our hearts
Letting down guards
We're working twice as hard, going half as far
Maybe not cut out to part our own cards
We all wanna remain alive and thriving
Like the ones barely present and signing
We're of a few, trying surviving
But at the end all of us are slowly dying

Oh, I remember the day your dog died
The wind and rain wept through the night
