Time

Well, days of yesteryear have come and gone
The old heroes and the old songs
Lone Ranger, Tonto, Green Lantern, the Flash
They're part of a story I call my past
Yeah!

Elvis, the Beatles, and Solid Gold
They're also a part of those days of old
Three Stooges setting their hair on fire
Well, isn't it time for Bugs to retire?

A day lasts forever when you're a child
The music's just right when mom says it's too loud
Hours spent playing with those old cars and trucks
Then I blinked my eyes and I'd grown up

Those days are gone now; I can't bring them back
The little boy has become granddad
Futile to live in those days of the past
It's time that we focus on some things that'll last

Of all my heroes, some good, some bad
The best ones I had were my mom and dad
They pointed me to the Lord of all time
And the old heroes dimmed when Jesus became mine

A day lasts forever when you're a child
The music's just right when mom says it's too loud
Hours spent playing with those old cars and trucks
Then I blinked my eyes and I'd grown up
