Beyond The Thorns

Every word is a surprise
For it's never what I had in mind
So much room for errors with 26 letters
The translation lost every time
But I can't comprehend
The abyss above my head
For what lies beyond that phaneron?
Oblivious to oblivion

Two for the price of one
To this three ring circus
Watched the four horsemen with all five senses
Now I'm all sixes and sevens
And nothing's black and white
Green with envy in the blue moon light
So I cut the red tape to let my silver tongue taste
An orange sunset and yellow sunrise

And there's no need for directions when you're going off the rails
So remember when life washes you ashore and you're just trying to survive
That the sweetest fruit lies beyond the thorns, to suffer is to be alive

Wandering the wilderness
Where no path is certain
Our moral compass revolves like a disco ball
I get lost in the lights again
With my back to the drawing board
A message in a bottle that I just ignored
Holding onto to your friends is like water in your hands
There's always some that ends up on the floor

And there's no truth behind the curtain only more questions
So if life becomes a pointless war and you're just fighting to survive
Learn to dance with the horns like a matador since you've already paid for the ride

So when the volcano clears her throat and you're just praying that you survive
Well no river decides which way it scribes, taking shape from the landslides
So when the thunderhead pounds it's drums and you feel smaller than you'd like
Remember destiny is just a coping technique for the answers that we are deprived
