Christmas '85

Macy's just decked the halls, down at the local mall
What can I say?, today is Black Friday
We just walked through the door, clock says half past four
Sleepy from the tryptophan, what the hell is our plan?
We're gonna grab a coffee, we're gonna both agree
Today there's nothing free, on this crazy shopping spree
This four page Christmas list, is now the enemy
Look at our empty cart, I guess it's time to start

A Teddy Ruxpin, some Care Bears, grab me some Transformers
There was Tetris, Ghostbusters, Nintendo still on my TV
Macgyver, Bob Newhart, I'm filling up that shopping cart
'Cause we're still out shopping live for Xmas, Xmas, Xmas 85, 1985

We've seen Tower Records, we've hit Waldenbooks
Sam Goody, Radio Shack, let's give Hess Trucks a look
How about the Fashion Bug? Does Woolworth's have a mug?
Thought we'd get a hand from Santa up in North Pole land?
Where's the basketball we bought at Hermans?
We need some luck so toss a penny in that fountain!
When did Glamour Shots become funny?
Whatever happened to arcades, and food courts at the shopping mall?

On the Television its Hi-Fi, VCR, Rewind before you Return
There's B-Dalton Brentano's, read my books on our orange couch
I'm tired, I'm hungry, how the hell's it only half-past five?
'Cause I'm still our shopping live Xmas, Xmas, Xmas 85

Screw retail, make this stop
Why did half these stores
Have to open on Thanksgiving night?
(Thanksgiving Night)
And how is Kay-Bee all sold out?
Please make this stop, stop, STOP!

A Saturn Robot, Rubik's Cube, Shake the Etch-n-Sketch clean
There was Game Boy, Atari, That Jenga game will never last
I curse this Christmas list, We simply cannot coexist
'Cause I'm still out shopping live for Xmas 85

A new Walkman, some Moon Shoes, Grab my little pony
There was He-man, Thundercats, Rock with Jem & The Holograms
Grandma & Grandpa, please take out the kids tonight
'Cause I have to wrap these gifts for Xmas, Xmas, Xmas 85, 1985
