Relics (feat. Gustavo Villas Boas)

Relics I found
in a shelf bearing marks of sharp nails and canines,
chests of contained crying and laughter:

a wooden ship,
twelve CDs of Ravel played by Martha Argerich
some soft t-shirts and porcelain parrots.

The ship is gone.
It was stolen when they broke into our house,
we were kids and it was scary.

I have held on to them
and they've become mine over the years:
the songs he liked, the shirts I'm wearing.

To give them all names, to measure dimensions,
and store them back safely in a well-ventilated place.
