Marketplace

How far can it go, a new face in the window,
We laugh with our friends and we say,
"It's just the new way to cry."
It seems there's a difference in our attitudes
Of love and expansion we say
"It's just the new way to say goodbye"
To combat, coming of age,
Why can't we look them in the face,
We're so frightened in what just happened,
And how does this feeling get so strange
When yesterday felt so good.

I heard there's a big sale on the love of a lifetime,
You can get it for nothing but time.
It's just the cool way to live a lie.
We've built an empire of broken down homes.
We laugh with our neighbors and say
"We've never felt so empty and alone."
What's it all mean, empty handed
All I can see are the questionnaires,
But we're so enlightened
So how does this happen,
And all the answers lead to nowhere

Yeah, we're here amongst our friends,
Here in the marketplace,
Just walking around,
Here in the marketplace,
Just walking around doing nothing.
