Where Do You Hide?

You and I
sitting quietly, breathing gently
and I feel the race and pulse
of my body through time
but over a million Tibetans have died
from starvation, genocide and suicide
and I wonder why, you and I
why do we try to hide

sometimes I wonder why we try and hide
I wonder why we hide, where do you hide?

it's all one to me
where I began
began in time

I can see the world in constant motion
hurried humans from ocean to ocean
busying themselves in double-time
In double time like you and I
marching through city streets
completely determined in mindless activity
or sitting repulsively in front of the TV
the TV that encourages us to buy
any number of new and improved worthless products
we communicate with radio waves
and we say, "Shop at Safeway"
