Clear up This Mess
One day I'll clear up this mess
Sort out these papers, tidy my desk
I'll pay all my taxes, file my CDs
I'll delete all those emails that you sent to me
I'll go for a walk and I won't come home late
I'll make sure my diary is all up to date
I'll store all my strings in a sensible case
And I'll play all these notes in their proper place
One day I'll finish this book
Stick down these pictures that I took
I'll call up my sister, I'll say How do you do?
What's been happening these five years since I last saw you?
I'll take all my calls and I'll answer my post
I'll go see my doctor and I'll get diagnosed
Swallow some pills and then when my work's done
I'll go to the park and I'll sit in the sun
The best laid plans on paper and pen
They all go astray time and again
But when the day comes that you finish the job
Well what then?
Birds in the sky are all flying south
A sign on the bed says nil by mouth
Somebody asks Well what did you do?
I'll say I went out, told a story or two
It's my song, so what's it to you?
One day I'll get out of bed
Smile on my face, a song in my head
I'll walk down the street and I won't have a care
Won't be thinking about why you're not there
I'll meet some old friends, we go out for a drink
I'll get my affairs back into sync
Say my goodbyes and I'll be on my way
The perfect end to the perfect day, hey
One day I'll clear up this mess
I'll find time to decompress
I'll put some flowers on the chest
Yes, one day I'll clear up this mess
Sort out these papers, tidy my desk
I'll pay all my taxes, file my CDs
I'll delete all those emails that you sent to me
I'll go for a walk and I won't come home late
