Black Bear

I'm scared that the world is gonna end
I'm scared that I may never find a friend
That I can call
In the middle of the night
When I am so frightened
That I may not go to sleep again
For fear that
My dreams become real
I hope someday
That I can feel
The sunrise on my skin
Again I'm alive
Blue skies at the end
For this I'll survive
It's the bedtime discussions
That count the most I think
They mold who you are
And by far
It's a simple little notion
But here we are
Debating life's questions
Until our minds hit the stars
If I could go back
To when I didn't know a thing
I don't know if I would
Because to what would I cling
Only emotion would be on my mind
To so much I'd be blind
The stories that we tell
To our children at night
Teach them to imagine
Open their mind to a different sight
Sayin' hey there black bear
Whatcha doin' in that tree
Sittin' waitin' to growl at me
It's the genius in the mind
Of a five-year-old girl
With her bedtime fairytales
She's gonna rule the world
Its bedtime discussions
That count the most I think
It's a simple little notion
But here we are
Debating lifes questions until our minds hit the stars
Sayin' hey there black bear
Whatcha doin' in that tree
Sittin' waitin' to growl at me
It's the genius in the mind
Of a five-year-old girl
With her bedtime fairytales
She's gonna rule the world
