Old Neighborhood

Everybody's happy nobody knows why
Acting like there's money 'bout to fall out of the sky
They say better times are coming but today don't look so good
Ain't exactly golden out here in my old neighborhood

Main Streets boarded up now Businesses are gone
Houses on my block all got for sale signs on the lawn
There's a brand new big McDonald's where the Soldiers Hall once stood
It's the only thing that's thriving out here in my old neighborhood

Living in the margins falling through the cracks
Used to be a nice place now it's the wrong side of the tracks
They say change can be good were it only that I could
But I'm far from hopeful 'bout things in my old neighborhood
