Solitude

My friends and I are walking on different paths tonight
and so I sit alone, here in the tall grasses of last autumn,

the moon for company.
Sometimes we forget the night's lonely invitation,
relationality and what not. Love does not require

the interruption of solitude.
The trill of a frog highlights the night's non-silence.
My heart wanders in the milky way, my lips touch

the taste of this sweet wine.
