Why do we falter? What do we alter? How do we conquer holy fear?
Isn't there hope for some of the others? Even ones who don't quite adhere?

Knowing, understanding what you're given gives to you
Taking in the breaking in of feelings so brand new

Fighting to keep both feet on the ground when bitten by hands that feed
Now every fear that I had misplaced is looking on while I bleed

Visions make decisions where a conscience should reside
Fall down moral high ground and get taken for a ride
Damaging perception tends to make up for the pride
Hoping that the means to be an end is justified

Starry-eyed limelight, cynical spotlight consequences start choosing sides
Taking the chance that promises combat every doubt that our faith provides

Methods underhanded lead to suffering and pain
Adding to the list of ways the guilty lay the blame

Nature is nurtured, Lies are now packaged, branded as faith and sold as sincerity
To those who would fear irrational thought while stoking their own irrational fears

Make me aware that a new generation of mindless automatons found mediocrity
Bury me deep in a black plastic sunrise and cover my eyes with the ground where I lie
