It's a very dark subject

And I'd never been in a relationship that for long before

And so, I had to, I wanted to find some way of breaking out, and
That song, I mean, it was dark, it was really dark
And she'd come, she'd come into the kitchen
And I'd be playing this tune like, "Nah"
Like, exactly about what-, what y-, what the lyrics are

Used to be like, "Oh, what song is that? That's a nice song"
And I'm like, "I need to get out of this, man, this here
She wasn't-, she wasn't-, she wasn't good for me"
But, yeah, I mean, that's kind of what Malibu did for me
What that studio did for me

Let me get all those dark themes that-, that I was keeping locked inside
And, and it gave me a chance to express how I was feeling
Y'know, 'cause no one can help you with that
Y'know, the only person that can help you with it is yourself
