Days Are Numbered - Commentary
"Days Are Numbered" is a song, uh, that features, uh, Bert McCracken
Of a band called The Used
Um, it's one of the only sort of guest vocals on a song that we've ever had
Um, and there's a few actually on this record, but it was the first one that we did
Um, it's a song that sort of talks about the idea that
You know, the-the wild ones have sort of busted into this, um
Abode where the, the fear people have captured these people and um
The-the song is meant to kinda be sung to the, the people that are in there
'Cause these people are kind of living in this, you know, Orwellian kinda society
And they're, they're treated like shit, but they kind of don't wanna leave necessarily
Because this is all they've ever known
And the message is sort of, in anything in life
You get used to comforts, you get used to, um, you know
Your-, the things that make you feel as if the next day is important
Or you know, you-you get used to the food that you eat
Or the things that you believe, or the things that you say
Or the people that you're around
And sometimes those things are counterproductive to your own advancement as a person
And so, um, this song is a little bit I guess about
Being able to analyze what it is that you are and who you are
And kind of move out of that and see what's f-, you know, best for you
In the grand scheme of things
