Slide - Commentary
That could've easily taken ten years, you know?
Like to record, because that song's a funny one
'Cause if you don't get it first take, for me, if I'd-
If I wouldn't have-, done it first take then I wouldn't have got it at all
Because the voice is-, my voice gets immediately tired after singing that
'Cause it's a very difficult song for me to sing
So I went into the studio, I thought, well it's-
I've gotta get it this take or else I'm not gonna get it today
And have to wait, and then I started playin' and, and the band came in
They were in a different room, and they were turned down in my mix
In my headphones, I was thinking "Oh God", like I'm-I'm singin' this fine
I just hope the band's in time, I had to cut-, I don't know if they're not or not
And after we, uh, did it, Mike Crossey was like, uh, "I think we've got it"
I was like, "What!?", and I went and listened, and I was so glad
I was really looking for those imperfections as well
I thought there's gonna be some
So I was really glad that it, it turned out okay
And the guitar on it is that feedback guitar
Uh, it was on a Memory Man and Mike Crossey set it all up
And uh, gave me this uh, custom Telecaster, it was a great guitar
And it start-, it was feeding back, it was-, it sounded disgusting
So oh, man, and then I managed to find the-the shapes
That just, um, feeded back in the same key and just right
And yeah, I was very happy with that sound as well
