Great Expectations (Commentary)

Again this is David page from Toto, thanks Steve Lugeta
Ah, this, the gain ah, Steve Lugeta heard this piece
Little snippet that I had written for ah, during the turning-back album
Ow this is the very first place, (the front part) the very front part (it's really old) it's really old
Just the front part it is we need to finish that, write something
So I had grabbed an iPhone and sing a couple little things into it we, we were on tour
And started the seed of what ended up being some of the verses on it
And it became a very collaborative effort between myself Joseph, and Steve Lugeta

As you can hear, we really got into ah, what Toto likes to call the "long form"
For to Toto hear, so we wanted to just eh, get out of our comfort zone
And make no ah, leg boundaries on it
And write something ah, that to us musically challenging
And adventures for us as well as having a great moral message
I think it uh, the other thing about it is that it harkens back to our early 70s Prag rock thing

We are, we were very influenced by yes Genesis Big Floyd and all that Jethro Toll
The citizens not all of our favorite bands and ah
It's a kind of song you wanna put headphones on and ah, sit down
Spend eight minutes just listening to how it flows, checking the artwork, and reading the lyrics
Yet it's the kind of song I always envisioned and has been
Something reminding me of back in the 70s

How we used to experience album
It's one of my favorite tracks we ever record actually
I'm very proud how that turns out actually
Lot of blood and sweet tears it all went that one
