Honey Whiskey - Track by Track
'Honey Whiskey' started off completely different
It started off from this picky, arpeggio guitar part
And a really aggressive bass
And Conor sort of singing it slightly harder than he does now
And then, by the time we got to the studio
We didn't really sort of care about it
We were like, "We'll just do it for the sake of it, we might need another track"
Then it turned out to be one we love, I guess
It's just a really fun track and it offers, again, a breath of fresh air
There's a bit of pace on it
And there's a bit of space to it as well and atmosphere
I was just thinking about when we had to record it
And right at the beginning of our album session
Our producer had showed Dom this thing on guitar
This sort of delay picking thing that you can do naturally
I don't know what you'd call it
Yeah, it's basically tremolo picking between your thumb and forefinger
It was really strange
I remember you sort of learning how to do that
And we were just like, "That is so cool, it's got to go in somewhere"
And then we went to go record 'Honey Whiskey'
We found a home for it and I always just hear that out now
'Cause that's gonna come across really well live!
