Haven't Got A Clue Explained
This song, it's a very strange sounding song for The Flaming Lips
And the reason is
Because we didn't really write this song necessarily by ourselves
There's a friend of ours
Who was one of the musicians who joined us on the backtour
It was Greg Kurstin, he's a wonderful musician
He's a great keyboard player
But I think he plays almost everything
He produces people all the time
He's a songwriter
He's worked with Karen over the NES
He's worked with Enrique Iglesias
Amazing jazz pianist as well actually
That's probably my favourite thing about him
Man of many talents
I think he gave me a CD probably around two years ago
Of some tracks that he had made thinking that you know, people
Would take these tracks and maybe turn them into songs
Vocal melodies and stuff like that
And I got interested in one and I thought
Well let's see what we can do with this
And we ended up working three or four days odd
I thought we ended up with something kind of strange
But I think highly entertaining
And so yeah, it's a song, a lot of it is Greg's production
But then you know a good bit of it is us sort of taking his thing
And turning it into um, you know, a whole other thing
Giving it a vocal melody and some attitude
And um, you know, so if it doesn't sound like anything we've done before
That's Greg's part in there
So yeah, it goes like this
Cool
