Claude's Girl (Commentary)

So track 6, which is "
Claude's Girl", um, I sort of treated it like a kind of interlude on the album
We stripped it right back, it's just me with an acoustic guitar, um, doing just take, full through, um
And I actually, I wrote this, we had a gap in recording, um, about a month, and I wrote this song in that gap
I was sort of struggling with sleeping a lot, feeling quite sort of anxious, my mind was just going full on
Um, so I wrote myself a lullaby, and it's based on "
The Girl With Flaxen Hair" by Debussy, which my brother used to play on the piano downstairs when I was younger
And um, it's about you know, sort of following this entity, this girl, who will take you off to sleep with her beautiful lullabies
Um, so yeah, it's um, and then, you know, not being able to get up, the sun's coming up
It's just dealing with that struggle of having to turn off your head
Um, I think it sits quite well in the middle, just as a little calm point on the album
