Glory of True Love

As long as I've been sigin' on stage
They always got this piece of tape on the stage
I don't know if I'm supposed to stand on or stay, stay away from 'em
(Stand over here) Nothing happened

This is a song I wrote with buddy from Bristol, England
He talks just like Cary Grant but he didn't look anything like Cary Grant
When we was writting this song
We don't usually write songs together but we play Dominos a lot
Sometimes when there's a level in the game to write a song, you know

So, we were writting this one here
I prefer writing by myself, you know, 'cause you don't got to keep your eye on the other person, you know
You don't know where they're gonna go with a song, you know what I mean
You're supposed to be writting about the same idea
And sometimes I sit there and look across the table and wonder
Gee, I'm wonderin' what they are thinkin'

You know, like when we were writting this song in particular
I had my wife in mind
And I was hoping that he didn't

Oh, the glory of true love
Is a wild and precious thing
It don't grow on old magnolias
Or only blossom in the spring

No, the glory of true love
Is it will last your whole life through
Never will go out of fashion
Always will look good on you

You can climb the highest mountain
Touch the moon and stars above
But old faithful's just a fountain
Compared to the glory of true love

Long before I met you, darlin'
Lord, I thought I had it all
I could have my lunch in London
And my dinner in St. Paul

I got some friends in Albuquerque
Where the governor calls me "Gov"
You can give 'em all to goodwill
For the glory of true love

You can climb the highest mountain
Touch the moon and stars above
But old faithful's just a fountain
Compared to the glory of true love

Glory, glory, glory, glory
You can't never get enough
Time alone will tell the story
Of the glory of true love
