Hold On, I'm Comin' - Track By Track
'Hold On, I'm Coming' was Sam & Dave
I think the average Joe doesn't realise how much soul music influenced rock 'n' roll
You know, when you think about Free or Bad Company or you know, Deep Purple or all those bands
You don't immediately think, "Oh, they copped soul music", you know
But singers like Paul Rodgers, you know, they wouldn't exist if it wasn't for black singers
I copied Paul Rodgers who copied black singers, but you know, so we all-
And then trace it back to his lineage, and we all were influenced by the same singers
Sam Moore is the singer from Sam and Dave, Sam Moore is the main singer, Sam Moore
Bon Scott was a good friend of mine before, you know, I knew Bon very well, and I'm sad he died
But Bon and I used to play Sam & Dave in the car and at parties and stuff like that
And I never realised how much of an influence Sam & Dave were on Bon
But if you listen to a Sam & Dave song like 'Hold On, I'm Coming'
And then listen to AC-DC, you can hear the same sort of phrasing, the same sort of tone
And so, the people don't get it
Sam Moore was one of the great singers for me
I used to sit, and I remember getting 'The Best Of Sam & Dave' on cassette in the '70s somewhere
And for about two years solid that's all I listened to, that's all I played
And so there was never gonna be a point, when I was making a soul record
Where I wasn't gonna record a Sam and Dave song
Now don't you ever feel sad
Lean on me, when the times get bad
When the day comes and you're down
In a river of trouble, darling
And you want me around
Hold on, well, I'm coming
Hold on, yeah, I'm coming now
I'm on my way, to you lover
When it gets cold, I'll be your cover
Don't have to worry, 'cause I'm here
No need to suffer darling, 'cause I'm here
Hold on, I'm coming
Hold on, yeah, I'm coming baby
Hold on, I'm coming now
Hold on, I'm coming, oh
Looky here
Reach out for me for satisfaction, yeah, oh yeah
Call my name and start a chain reaction, hey, hey yeah, oh-oh
Yeah, now don't you ever feel sad
Lean on me, when the times get bad
When the day comes, that you're down
In a river of trouble, darling, and you want me around
Hold on, I'm coming
Hold on, well, I'm coming now baby
Hold on, well, I'm coming, babe
Hold on, I'm coming
Baby, hold on (hold on, I'm coming)
Oh baby, hold on (hold on, I'm coming)
Baby, hold on (hold on, I'm coming)
Baby, hold on now (hold on, I'm coming)
Babe, and don't you ever
