For This Cause

It was hard to understand why he had gone
Leaving only precious memories behind
I wondered could it be that somewhere I'd gone wrong
But in God's Word the answer I would find

I thought about when Adam saw Eve standing there
With the fruit that was forbidden in her hand
And how hard it must have been to leave the Father's care
But how he could I somehow understand

For this cause shall a man leave his father's house
Forever to be joined unto his wife
For this cause he must forsake the only life he's known
And for this cause he would give his very life
To have her and to hold

Now that explains the many times when he'd forget
And the things he did that made me wonder why
It's funny how love can explain so many things
Like why that far away look was always in his eye

One thing's for sure God knows just what I'm going through
For there was a day when He watched His Son depart
And there upon Golgotha's hill He gave His life
That's just how far he'd go to win her heart
