Kelleher Fields

Sunday morning and I roll out of bed
Brush the sleep from my eyes
Pull an elastic band over my head
The sun is shining outside
Early October, I lace up my shoes and we drive
To Kelleher Field
Sneakers over cool concrete
A tiny path painted to look like a street
The leaves are now just changing colors
Days like this one they will rise above the others
And I didn't think I could
But I ran the whole ten miles
With you
Bikers pass us on our left
Walkers lag behind, old faces I'll forget
Walls of a bridge around
Painted up so pretty
Wooden statue of an eagle
To celebrate the city of Marlboro
Right here

We ran across the bridge
I looked down at the street
I didn't want to jump
And that's an amazing feat
