Forward Progress

Dirt spills onto the carpet
Falling off from the bag
With a notebook and water bottle
Covered in wet sand
Bed sheets littered with leaves
And you fall in anyway
Cheeks burned by the sun
Freckles fade away

And you will move on forward
You will move on forward

You walk through the door
And already feel your head pound
But the day is calling you
You follow that sound
A bag full of almost-thoughts
Scribbled in a notebook
Barely legible
Mud caking the surface

You will move on forward
You will move on forward
You will move on forward
You will move on forward

And when the bad hits your skin
It will pierce your neighbors' ears
These walls are paper thin
So everybody hears
Sitting on a carpet floor
Waiting for the next day
So you can keep up sitting tomorrow
Pushing everything away
You're afraid to eat
For the fear that it will consume you
Afraid to close your eyes
Without the radio on too
The almost-thoughts pop from the bag
And take you by surprise
They cloud your brain, plug your ears
And cover up your eyes

But you will move on forward
You will move on forward
