May I Have This Memory

MAY I HAVE THIS MEMORY

1) I saw him sitting there, in the next to last seat
He tried some conversation, but their eyes would never meet
But it didn't faze him; he tried and he tried
This man and this woman, sitting there, side by side

2) I played a couple tunes while a few folks sang along
The next number that I picked was an older love song
As I sang those words, to her face came a smile
She slowly stood up and she waltzed, down the aisle

3) As she reached my side I heard a sweet harmony
She danced and she swayed as she sang next to me
She turned and walked back towards that man in the seat
She reached out her hand and said 'please dance with me?'

May I have this memory; I recall now how you danced with me
Somehow it seems like just yesterday
This song somehow brought us here,
For the moment, it seems so clear
We can't let this time slip away.

4) She returned to her seat, but several times more
A song she knew stirred her and she took to the floor
With her man in her arms, they would dance and she'd sing
He had a smile on his face, only true love could bring

5) As I walked to my car, those dancers in mind
I heard a voice say, from somewhere behind
Thank you for the music; it set that woman free
You see that was my wife who, today, remembered me.

May I have this memory; I recall now how you danced with me
Somehow it seems like just yesterday
This song somehow brought us here,
For the moment, it seems so clear
We can't let this time slip away.

We have all these memories; recalling how we danced with ease
Somehow it seems like just yesterday
The music, brings us here,
For that moment, it seems so clear
We can't let these times slip away.
