Cinnamon

Maybe I was never who I thought I was
Holding onto my youthful thoughts of
Holding my head over the clouds

But winter wraps me up in a bathrobe
Soaked through and I'm thrown outside
As I emerge slowly into the crowd

Walking through I keep a hold of my cup
Cinnamon clears the air of its bitter taste, like a smile of despair on an empty face
I warm my throat as I walk alongside the crowd

Walk along the avenue and find your friends there talking
Cheerfully. They seem like me
Talk about the your plans tonight, feel like you're always stalking
Happiness. You see it there

Cinnamon
To sweeten life
Cinnamon
You have me

I thought I saw God in the distance
I followed their footsteps
Every cloud lit up right under their feet

Every cloud looked brighter than the last one did
I watched my loved ones fall and pass
And every step made my body feel sore

I kept walking 'til my feet bled
I stopped my hopeful march
And I let my friends come catch up behind

As I turned to look forward it was out of sight
Like I'd ever known better than to walk light
That I prayed for when I was lying in bed

Walk along the avenue and find your destination
I wait outside. I walk away
Glowing under the streetlights, you feel you're always watching
Happiness. You see it there

Cinnamon
To sweeten life
Cinnamon
You have me

I close my eyes and see things better
I hold my head up to the weather
And when the rainfall knocks me over
I'll see that thoughts can't hold their place

I close my eyes and see things better (I'm finding hope)
I hold my head up to the weather (I'm seeing it)
And when the rainfall knocks me down (I'm finding hope)
I'll see that thoughts can't hold their place (I'm seeing it)
