When No One's Watching

It was a dreary night in Denver. All my work was done
So I wondered from that lonely room down to the bar to have some fun
A redhead on my left looked up as I ordered me a beer
She turned to me; softly asked: "Is this your first time here?"
Told her I was passing through; here for just for one night
She leaned close; slyly said, "You know I don't bite

I've been tempted a time or two
One thing's always true
Character is what you do
When no one's watching you

Life, it sometimes teases you to be something your not
But in the end integrity is really all you got
Take a breath; think real hard right before your choose
No matter who you think you are, you've got a lot to lose

I told her I was married. She countered with "Me too"
Threw her hair back, laughed and said, "I got a truth for you"
Her lips moved close to my left ear; she whispered in a taunt
"You don't know somethings missing till you find a thing your want"

She gave a look that said "let's go" then she stared into my eyes
When I suddenly got up to leave, she looked so surprised
Can't remember a time or place when I ever felt so free
All it took was for me to act, the way I want to be

I've been tempted a time or two
One thing's always true
Character is what you do
When no one's watching you

It's what you do
When no one's watching you
