The Death of Walter

As i traveled up the mountain range i once called home
I remembered the way the flames danced up those trees
Igniting everything in a blaze of destruction
The fire seemed to have illuminated the sky brighter than any star that night
So much that the smoke inhaled the colors of space, clouding everything above
I remember the fire felt cold that night despite its natural element
And i was flushed with the pale red of course flowing blood
I remember the sound of your screams reaching out to the night sky
That was engulfed in blackness
Tethered by dark clouds as you stood between me and the place we once called home
