To Return

Through the woodland pines, the morning sang
I closed my eyes and felt the chilly air
I breathed in the scent of petrichor, the smell only found out there
I waited between those ancient stones
I waited for the rain
Within my weary heart, i struggled to return
Knowing i may be consumed by them finding me
At once, i was the bear that slept comfortably in the cave
Like many before me, i longed for the same
Though i took a long time to get here, the mountains may disagree
I clenched the thought between my fists and met with the old ones that day
After sinking into the comfort of this moss bed
I set forth to the short-circuiting sky
To hold onto this hope that i am finding within
I danced the rest of the night on tomorrow's ashes
