Remember

When I die
Will I leave a peaceful world behind?
Or will it all have gone to shit with mankind
Like the truths that some say
I accept but don't pay
Much mind to in the present day

Will I find it hard to go in peace?
If constant hardship makes up reality
With no chapels or priests
And the thing that I leave
Is escaped with nothing bittersweet

Oh the times that we're living
They really got me thinking
Whether I go out with a fight
Or a so-called coward's ending

I'll be sure to maintain
I'll stubbornly commit my brain
To saying goodbye
To this place with a smile
And to something worthwhile

Oh come on everybody, remember with me
Not sick people or sick minds that are never at ease
Not rising tides or topped-out mercury
Never famine, suffocation or broken families

Join me in recalling safe and sound memories
Like singing out our hearts as if the notes could cure disease
Fondly think back to younger years free of care
When a dream was a dream and not a future to prepare

Talks that bring us close and make us feel alive
Eyes seeing eyes through to the person behind
Nights lit up with laugher until met with sunrise
And love that's only felt - that no words can describe

Oh I'll go quietly
No chaos for my company
Yeah I'll go quietly
And I will remember fondly

Because that's the life I know
No matter how we might go
Together or one by one
Fast and sudden or painful and slow

I'll go quietly
I'll remember peace
And I'll rest in it's memory
