I've always been told I was born a winner
"I'll make mama and papa proud"
Now those words feel like empty promises
Just a pretty bedtime story

Over twenty and still a beginner
Just one more in the crowd
Don't feel I'm near the first place
But I need to keep running

And another one bites the dust
And I don't want to be the next one
I've lost many positions already

I feel I need to keep running
No matter where I'm going
I need to get to the finish line
Before I end up without time

I'm never looking straight, focusing on the road
I need to check if there's someone near me
Just do my best is never enough
Unless I'm at a comfortable lead

And my anxiety keeps yelling
There may be invisible drivers ahead
My hands can't stop sweating
My head's on fire but I don't care
