North South Divide
That old Southern blood is flowing in my veins
My Northern heart beats strong inside my soul
I'm only just a heartbeat from the Southbound train
Sometimes I'm not sure where I call home
I learned to walk upon those London streets
But I grew up with hills and mills around
You can take the Southern boy out of the promised land
But you'll never take him out that Northern town
My Father told me son
We gotta pack our bags and run
We gotta find another place to hide
But I don't want to hide no more
I've more than paid my dues
So I'm breaking down that old North South Divide
Spent a lifetime wandering
On sentimental street
It's time to leave the detail in the past
Walked too many memories
Got blisters on my feet
Should know by now that nothing's made to last
I learned to love amongst those misty hills
The wind and rain showed which way to go
And when those clouds have lifted and the past is laid to rest
I close my eyes and know that I am home
