Lessons

I cried to the bright, white, scorching sun,
"How can you always rise?
For when you lick my back as I heave my load
I long to close my eyes."
And the sun replied,
"I am your guide,
And without me you won't breathe.
Since the dawn of time I have made my climb.
You could learn more from me."

I cried to the towering mountain peak,
"Why must you block my way?
For I long to travel across the land
But your vastness makes me stay."
Said the mountain tall,
"Be it big or small
There's nothing I can't see.
When you stand my size all your worry dies.
You could learn more from me."

I cried to the rushing river waves,
"Why do you carve so deep?
For when I make my way to your sandy banks
I slide down cliffs so steep."
Heard the river say,
"I seek no thanks for the life I bring to thee.
Through the rocks and clay I can find my way.
You could learn more from me."

I cried to the whipping, western wind,
"Why are you so unfair?
For just when I think I'm beautiful
You tangle up my hair."
Well the whispering flair said,
"I bring you air, but my beauty you can't see.
Yet I know my worth as I shape the earth.
You could learn more from me."

I cried to the savage forest beast,
"How can you live untamed?
In my cities you'll have lots to eat,
And you won't be wild game."
She said, "we're not unalike both you and I,
But I know my place to be.
See I've also heard all the ancient words,
But I've learned much more than thee.
And you could learn more from me."

And you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
And you could learn more from me
Said you could learn more from me
