Waker's Curse

When I'm tired and my dreams are seeping through
When the world is silent underneath my shoes
I might climb the sun
With a boulder and a gun
Dressed in my Sunday suit with a parachute
I'll float down to the warm, trembling ground

The waker's curse
Upon the hearse
I call my bed
The fossil chains
The tonsil drains
Within my head

When I wake up early from the kindest dreams
Deep down I know they are never as they seem
I could strip both my eyes
Have them burned by the sky
I could shout and drown at the sea, I'll still wake for tea
Dawn will break and I will ache

The waker's curse
In mindless verse
I will resign
The leper strains
The laughing pains
Within my spine

If I take my cures and solace from sorrow
I guess I'll be comfortable tomorrow
I take in the smoke
With a strong, brave joke
But I know one day this will end as I intend
Time will pass and the rain will turn to glass
