Skyscrapers
We be living high in these skyscrapers
Shelling out big wads of paper
Tryin to rise above the rest
But still can overcome the stress
Of this pseudo elite dwelling
Man we be soul selling
To the blood suckers of the poor
For these pimp-out pent-house caskets
Attending only the "Mega" of televised churches
Figuring the better we pad the basket
The more cushion for our soul
But when the truth unfold
Life is gonna get kind-a drastic
Unfortunately, the toll road to heaven ain't accepting
No platinum plastic
So you may as well save your swipes
Because by the end of the day
All that will matter is how many blessings you saved
And how well you spent your life
Every action has a price.
And as we charge our way into the new millennium
Wielding wallets to wrangle wishes
In attempts to balance our
Empty souls with diamond studded kisses.
We was living foul in this paper chase.
Just to "have it all" blow up in our face
Because our pension ain't got no weight
And though the politician have proven
That blaming the "Baby-boomers"
can fuel a pretty heated debate
They still haven't been able to decreased
That deficit or stabilize the inflation rate.
Man people are acting so blasé.
Talking about their 401K
Like they really got something put away.
Not realizing that Uncle
Is the biggest squirrel
And since this is his world
He grabs his F.I.Ts – Shouts "these nuts"
And leaves us - with reduced Medicaid benefits
It ain't no secret that by the time we retire
Social security will have long since expired
And because of it they want to raise our taxes
but the fact is
If securities weren't taking out loans on securities
We had invested for our homes
We'd probably be able to afford healthcare on our own
Wouldn't need our incomes subsidized
With poverty on the rise
The middle class is takin a dive
And some of ya'll still don't understand
Why that is important
But once the line has been drawn
Between the have and the have not
Your days of freedom are gonna be shortened
And looks who's back in
To survive, it won't take bravery
But it will take good credit and at least one degree
So stop living outside your means
Try to get that credit clean
That might mean passing on those $1 all night "you call its"
Because when you new world order settles
You'll Discover "Everyplace You Want to Be"
Won't be "Priceless" and it will matter
"What's in Your Wallet?"
Shelling out big wads of paper
