11:11 - Commentary

I feel like we've been waiting a long time for Tyler Rich's debut album
It is finally out, and we're talking to Tyler
The next song on the album, if anybody has ever looked at a digital clock
And it said, "11:11", then you're probably familiar
People tend to make a wish or they pray, talk to God
And if you're not really familiar with it
Tyler, tell people what this song is about

So "11:11" written by John Knight, who have written a ton with Lindsay Rimes my producer
And then the late Andrew Dorf, was
I believe the last song Andrea actually turned in
Or one of it was in his last batch
And it was part of one of those pitch meetings that we heard it
And I had gotten to spend some time with Andrew on the road
When he was on tour with Dustin Lynch riding with him
And I got to hang out with him a little bit and spend some time with him
And he's such an incredible human, sweetheart

So, even before hearing the song that immediately had me hooked
'Cause he's a hit songwriter, he's brilliant, so, so good
And then just the weight of that
And what that would mean as an artist that
Is going to take that on to cut a song like that for his legacy

So, "11:11 - Make A Wish" is what I've always been told as a kid was
You know, if you see at 11:11, that means there's Angels around
And it's a rare occurrence of numbers not only on a clock, but like, everywhere
And you need to really soak in and spend that moment manifesting what it is that you love
And what you're going for

And for somebody as talented as Andrew that had just passed away
And like John Knight, as soon as his voice is on any demo, I'm already hooked
And I always tell him that I'm like John, I got another pitch from you, and I put it on hold
Not sure if the song's good or if it's just your voice, but if it sucks
We'll let you know in a couple of weeks because he just kills it
And then Lindsay is obviously great, as he's my producer and

There's just such a vulnerable and just dire need for somebody in that song
That first verse is so-, it just puts you there in these actual places
I see myself driving to pick up the Lotto tickets just in case I'm lucky that day
And I see myself going out and drinking with my friends at Happy Hour
And then closing out, but then coming back and being stuck
Wishing what person was still around
And we've all been through it, even if we're happy currently
We've all had really bad breakups
Where you would just wish for one chance you would have said things you should have
Or maybe just one chance gone back and lived life a little bit different

I'm curious, 11:11 and wishing or praying when you see that on a clock
That's kind of one
I don't know if you'd call it superstition that people do
But I'm the girl that licks up the Penny, but only if it's heads up
And I wish on shooting stars
So do you have any other superstitions or things that you do like that?

I always wish on shooting stars, pennies I'll pick up
Yeah, for the most part, what are some other superstitions that I could even think of?
I hold my breath in tunnels, Sabina refuses to split poles with me
So if there's a pole, you can't walk around, you have to walk around together
It doesn't matter if she's like texting and walking and then realizes it 30ft later
She will go back every single time and walk around that pole

Interesting, I have actually never heard that one
But hey, at least she's consistent
And this is "11:11
It's Tyler Rich of his debut album on Big Machine Radio
